Avulsion Injury of Posterior Cruciate Ligament in Children(A Case Report)

Abstract
Injury to the ligament of the knee in young children is relatively rare due to resiliency of the ligament and the relative weakness of physis, therefore epiphyseal injury is more apt to occur.
The most important aspect of management is to be aware that severe ligamentous disruption of the knee may be the only sign that a dislocation has occurred and also the vascular status must be carefully evaluated by comparing Doppler pulse
pressure to the controlateral limb.
The authors describe one case of a 10-year-old male with an avulsion injury of the femoral attachment of the posteior cruciate ligament with concurrent rupture of the popliteal artery . At 4.5 years follow-up after controlateral saphenous vein
graft fort he popliteal artery rupture followed by open reduction and pull-out wiring of posterior cruciate ligament, the patient had returned to all his usual activities including sports.
